Matt Garza has been surrounded in magic since a young age. His uncle Jose “Chaeo” Lopez, a professional magician, inspired young Matt to persevere in this incredible world and to keep the tradition living as he once did. Matt grew up with Latin and Korean culture and is proud to call the Rio Grande Valley and Busan his home. He is a part of various Mexican & Asian traditions and was raised with stories of powerful masters that have control over the mind and body, and spirits known as tokebi that reside in the mountain above. He has traveled and performed around the world, and credits his mentor Lee with shaping him into the man he is today.
Magic crosses all cultures, barriers, and ways of life. Despite speaking different languages, people across the world can come to understand each other through the shared experience of magic. The art breaks the barrier of perception, exposing the deepest truth of who we really are and how we live in this world. It brings us to question what we previously believed to be true and permanent. Thus, the Great Mystery guides us to see everyday life differently and realize that even seemingly immutable situations can be changed.
